Which DM NVX endpoint do I need?

Choose by video format, inputs and power budget:

• DM-NVX-360: set as an encoder or a decoder, 4K60 4:4:4 with HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, with a scaler, video wall processing and USB and KVM routing. The DM-NVX-363 adds surround to stereo downmixing and native Dante or AES67 audio.
• DM-NVX-384 and DM-NVX-385: encoder or decoder with a 4x1 switcher for two HDMI and two USB-C inputs, up to 5K wide formats, eARC and H.264 streaming. The 385 adds downmixing. Both need PoE++ (60 W) or a PW-2420RU power pack.
• DM-NVX-E30 and DM-NVX-D30: dedicated 4K60 4:4:4 HDR encoder and decoder on PoE+.
• DM-NVX-E20, DM-NVX-D20 and DM-NVX-D200: compact 4K60 4:2:0 units (4K30 4:4:4). The E20 and D20 run on standard PoE, the D200 adds a scaler and video wall processing on PoE+, and the E20-2G is a 2-gang wall plate encoder.
• DM-NVX-E760: an encoder with a DM input that brings DM 8G+, DM Essentials and HDBaseT signals into the network.

Models ending in C are cards for the DMF-CI-8 chassis, which holds eight cards in two rack spaces.

How do DM NVX and DM NAX fit into a typical system?

An encoder sits at each source, such as a laptop point, media player or camera feed, and a decoder sits behind each display. Both connect to a Gigabit network switch, which carries the streams by multicast, and a Crestron control system or touch screen chooses what each display shows.

On larger networks a DM NVX Director manages routing. The DM-NVX-DIR2 handles up to 100 endpoints in 20 domains, and the DM-NVX-DIR-ENT up to 1000 endpoints in 240 domains, with automatic endpoint discovery and a web interface. It acts as the virtual equivalent of a hardware DM matrix switcher.

Audio travels on the same network. DM NVX endpoints and DM NAX devices exchange audio over DM NAX and AES67, and AES67 lets them work with Dante systems. DM NAX wall plates, converters and the Saros DM-NAX-IC4A PoE+ speaker route audio to and from DM NVX devices, and the DM NAX amplifiers accept DM NAX and AES67 streams. For USB, DM NUX endpoints extend keyboards, mice and other USB 2.0 devices up to 100 m and route them alongside the video.

What should I check when replacing or adding a DM NVX unit?

• Stream type: the E30, D30 and 360 use Pixel Perfect Processing by default, while the E20, D20 and D200 use the E20/E10 series stream. A DM-NVX-360 or E30 encoder can also send D10/D20/D200 series streams, and the D30 can decode E10/E20 series streams, so check what the other endpoints expect.
• Power class: on PoE, the E20 and D20 need IEEE 802.3af, the 360, 363, E30, D30 and D200 need PoE+ (802.3at), and the 384 and 385 need PoE++ (802.3bt Class 6). Confirm the switch can supply that class on the port, or use a Crestron power pack.
• Format: a box unit and a card are not interchangeable in the rack, so match the C or non-C version.
• Mounting: box units stand freely, surface mount or fix to a single rack rail.
• Configuration: set the encoder or decoder mode, security settings such as 802.1X, and any Director domain before the unit goes live.

Which DM NAX product do I need for multiroom audio or conferencing?

• DM-NAX-4ZSA-50: four stereo amplified zones at 50 W per channel plus a fifth line-level zone, each with a built-in streaming player, in a half-width 1RU chassis.
• DM-NAX-8ZSA: eight amplified stereo zones at 150 W per channel into 8 ohms or 300 W into 4 ohms, bridgeable to 500 W, in 2RU.
• DM-NAX-4ZSP: four line-level zones with voltage triggers, for systems with separate amplifiers.
• DM-NAX-AMP-X300: 300 W with low impedance (4 or 8 ohm) or 70V and 100V outputs, plus a native Dante mode.
• Wall plates and converters: the DM-NAX-2XLRI-1G adds two XLR inputs, the DM-NAX-BTIO-100-1G adds Bluetooth, and the DM-NAX-AUD-IO and DM-NAX-AUD-USB add line-level or USB audio.
• DM-NAX-AP-100: the Intelligent Audio processor for meeting rooms, pairing with up to eight DM-NAX-POD-MIC and DM-NAX-POD-MIC-SPK pods and connecting to the meeting computer over USB-C.
