What is the difference between the 70 and 80 series touch screens?

The 80 series (TSW-1080, TSW-880, TS-1080 and TS-880) is the newer platform: 8 GB of RAM, projects up to 1000 MB, 1000 Mbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The wall models are only 30 mm deep. They request 30 W (PoE+ Class 4) from the switch when LLDP is not used.

The 70 series (TSW-570, TSW-770, TSW-1070, TS-770 and TS-1070) has 2 GB of RAM, projects up to 600 MB and 100 Mbps Ethernet, with Wi-Fi on the 7 and 10.1 in. models. It runs HTML5 and Smart Graphics projects and requests 15 W with LLDP.

Both families include a Rava SIP intercom on most models, streaming video and native apps such as Crestron Home OS, Zoom Rooms and room scheduling. Two variants change the software:

• R versions, such as the TSW-1080R and TS-880R, are designed to run the Crestron Home OS app for residential projects.
• UC versions, the TS-1080-UC and TSW-1080-UC, interface with a compatible UC engine such as Crestron Collab Compute.

Should I choose a wall, tabletop or wireless touch screen?

Wall panels (TSW) suit rooms where the control should always be in the same place. The 7 in. and larger models surface mount over standard electrical boxes, including 2-gang BS 4662 and DIN 49073 boxes, the 5 in. TSW-570 fits a 51 x 96 mm cutout, and several are compatible with Wall-Smart flush mounting products.

Tabletop screens (TS) sit on a meeting table or desk, with the TS-770 and TS-880 in 7 and 8.1 in. sizes and the TS-1070 and TS-1080 at 10.1 in.

The TST-1080 is a 10.1 in. wireless tablet-style screen only 14 mm thick. It can be carried around, placed in the TST-1080-DS table dock, or set into the TST-1080-DSW wall dock, where it sits nearly flush and charges.

For a much larger screen, the DGE-1000 graphics engine turns the 21.5 in. TSD-2220 touch display into a Crestron controller, and it can show HDMI and streaming video alongside the controls.

Mounting accessories for the wall panels include multisurface, mullion and rack mount kits, preconstruction kits and back boxes.

Which handheld remote should I choose?

• HR-150: a rugged 50-button remote with backlit buttons and up to eight assignable buttons for sources, rooms, lighting or shades. It uses infiNET EX with a typical range of 23 m and runs on four AAA batteries.
• HR-310: a slimmer infiNET EX remote whose backlit buttons can be custom engraved. It wakes when picked up and can send low battery alerts. Black or white.
• HR-CV-MINI Cevo Mini: a slim Wi-Fi remote with seven programmable display buttons and voice control. It lasts about 10 days per charge, and the HR-CV-MINI-DS dock charges it wirelessly.
• TSR-310: a remote with a 3 in. colour touch screen, backlit buttons and voice control over Wi-Fi, with a preprogrammed Crestron Home OS interface. It charges in the included dock, and extra TSR-310-DS or horizontal TSR-310-DS-H docks let it charge in other rooms.

The infiNET EX remotes need an infiNET EX wireless gateway in the system.

What should I check when replacing a touch screen or remote?

• Software version: choose the standard, R (Crestron Home OS) or UC version to match how the system runs. The control project may need updating for a new model.
• Power: check that the PoE switch or injector can supply the panel, especially the 30 W that 80 series panels request without LLDP.
• Depth and opening: 80 series wall panels are 30 mm deep, against 51 mm for the TSW-770 and TSW-1070. Retrofit brackets are listed for older openings, for example the TSW-770/1070-RMB-1, which converts from APAD, CT/LC-1000 or TPS-2000L panels.
• Finish: most panels come in black or white, and many have a Government version.
• Remotes: an infiNET EX remote must be joined to the gateway again, and a Wi-Fi remote needs the network details. Replacement battery packs are listed for the TSR-310.
