About the Crestron SFP-1G-SX

Crestron's SFP-1G modules add 1000BASE-X Gigabit Ethernet fibre connections to DigitalMedia NVX network AV encoder/decoder boxes and cards. The SFP-1G-SX is the multimode option, following 802.3z 1000BASE-SX, and uses two fibres on a dual LC connector. Crestron's module table lists its colour as black, and the modules are hot-swappable to minimise downtime.

Distance depends on the fibre. With 62.5 µm fibre it reaches 220 m (720 ft) at 160 MHz km and 275 m (900 ft) at 200 MHz km (OM1). With 50 µm fibre it reaches 500 m (1640 ft) at 400 MHz km and 550 m (1800 ft) at 500 MHz km or greater, which covers OM2 and above. Crestron strongly recommends OM3 or greater multimode fibre for new installations.

When replacing a module, check the fibre already in place and match the part number on the old module. The SFP-1G-SX is for multimode fibre, while the SFP-1G-LX, SFP-1G-BX-U and SFP-1G-BX-D are single-mode modules with a listed reach of 10 km (6.2 mi), so choose the module that matches the fibre type.
