About the Crestron MPB4-201

The front has six assignable projected capacitive buttons, each labelled with one of 25 prelabelled icon chips or hidden with one of five blackout chips. Dedicated power, mute and volume up and down buttons sit alongside a blue LED bargraph that shows the volume level. Buttons are backlit white when inactive and blue when active, and a light sensor adjusts the backlight brightness to the room.

A proximity sensor with an adjustable range of 20 to 90 cm detects people approaching and wakes the panel. The single Gigabit Ethernet port carries both data and PoE power, and the panel typically draws 3 W. Setup can be done through software, a web browser or the cloud, and the panel supports XiO Cloud provisioning and management, Crestron Fusion room monitoring and scheduling, and control apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

The panel mounts flush on a wall or lectern in a 1-gang electrical box, or in a tabletop enclosure, and a 2-gang wall mounting option is also available. It measures 87 mm square and 48 mm deep. Crestron specifies particular box types, so check the existing back box when replacing a panel, and make sure a 3-Series or 4-Series control system is in place to run it.
