1Home KNX Partner in Ireland

With 1Home KNX, your KNX house turns up in Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa, ready for the phone, the watch and the voice. 1Install is an official 1Home partner in Ireland and installs the 1Home Server for new and existing KNX systems.

Polished chrome keypad with blue backlit buttons for reception rooms, the bar, foyer and garden, the kind of keypad 1Home KNX mirrors in Apple Home and Google HomeA KNX system on its own is controlled from keypads, sensors and timers; it has no everyday app. The 1Home Server is a small unit on your network that reads the KNX project and shares every light, blind and thermostat with the apps you know, using Matter, the common standard supported by Apple, Google and Amazon.

Why we recommend 1Home KNX

  • One server, many apps: Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant.
  • Runs at home: control stays local, so the house works without the internet; voice assistants and remote access need a connection.
  • No monthly fees for the server itself.
  • Mix in other devices: Matter products such as Philips Hue, Nuki locks, Tado radiator heads or Eve sensors can join KNX scenes and automations.
  • Remote help: a secure connection lets us support you without a call out.

1Home sets this out in its guide to KNX and Matter.

What our installation includes

We fit and configure the server, import the devices from the ETS project, give every room, light and scene a clear name, connect the apps and speakers you choose, and test it all from a phone and from the keypads before we leave. The household gets a short walk through, and we note the setup in your client portal.

Adding 1Home to an older KNX system

Many Irish houses have KNX that was installed years ago with no app at all. With the ETS project file, or a rebuilt one, we can add 1Home and modernise the programming in the same visit. If you are still planning a house, start with our KNX installer page.

1Home, Crestron or Control4 on top of KNX?

1Home is the lightest way to bring KNX to your phone. For whole house audio, cinema and dedicated touch screens, Crestron or Control4 can be layered over KNX instead. We explain both, with costs, before you choose; see also home automation.

Questions we are often asked

What does the 1Home Server do?

It links a KNX system to Matter, so KNX devices can be controlled in Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant.

What if the broadband goes down?

The keypads, the KNX system and the server keep working at home. Voice control and access from outside the house return when the connection does.

Are there ongoing fees?

1Home states there are no monthly fees for the server, and we confirm any extras in writing before you order.

Can 1Home be added to KNX we already have?

Usually, yes, using the ETS project. If the project file is missing, we can rebuild it first.

Do we still need wall keypads?

We recommend them. A keypad by the door is quicker than a phone for guests and children, and the app adds control from anywhere.

We install 1Home KNX nationwide; see your county: Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, Kerry, Clare, Kilkenny, Louth, Waterford, Westmeath and Wexford.
