About the Crestron ULTIMATE ASUB10

A 10 in. carbon fibre woofer in an aluminium cabinet covers 35 Hz to 175 Hz (±3 dB), driven by an internal amplifier rated 200 W RMS and 400 W peak. The built-in low pass filter adjusts from 50 to 175 Hz in Crossover mode, or can be bypassed in LFE/NAX mode, so the subwoofer suits a broad range of AV sources. A polarity switch sets 0° or 180°, and a volume knob sets the level.

Connections are an RCA line-level input (LFE/NAX, up to 2 Vrms), an RCA line output and a 12 V trigger input. With the Auto On/Trigger switch, the amplifier can wake when audio is detected at the line input or from an external voltage trigger, and a power LED shows white for on and red for standby. Where running a line-level cable is not practical, the SPKA-EXT-WIRELESS wireless signal extender kit (sold separately) can be used.

Its USB 2.0 Type A port supplies 5 V, 500 mA to power the extender's receiver, which fits under the grille, and the transmitter can sit up to 40 m away. Wall mounting hardware, rubber feet and an optional rectangular grille come in the box. Mains input is 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz, 200 W. The black textured subwoofer measures 370 mm high (386 mm with feet), 400 mm wide and 90 mm deep without the grille.

What is the Crestron ULTIMATE ASUB10?

It is a 10 in. active subwoofer from the Crestron Ultimate range, made by Origin Acoustics. It has a built-in 200 W amplifier and a carbon fibre woofer, and is designed to add deep bass alongside Crestron Ultimate and Reference residential speakers. Does the ULTIMATE ASUB10 need an external amplifier?

No. It is an active subwoofer with its own amplifier rated 200 W RMS and 400 W peak, powered from a 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz mains connection. It takes a line-level signal on an RCA input rated up to 2 Vrms.

How does the low pass filter work?

With the switch in Crossover mode, the internal low pass filter is active and the crossover knob sets its point from 50 to 175 Hz. In LFE/NAX mode the internal filter is bypassed. This lets the subwoofer connect to a broad range of AV sources.

Can the ULTIMATE ASUB10 turn on automatically?

Yes. In Auto mode the internal amplifier turns on when an audio signal is detected at the line input, and the amplifier can also be woken by an external 12 V trigger. The power LED shows white when the subwoofer is on and red in standby.

How is the subwoofer mounted, and what if a signal cable is impractical?

It can be wall mounted or floorstanding, with wall mounting hardware, rubber feet and an optional rectangular grille included.
