About the Crestron SAROS SMT8T

Its 8 in. (203 mm) injection-moulded polypropylene (IMPP) woofer works with a 1 in. (25 mm) ceramic-coated aluminium tweeter, crossing over at 2 kHz. The response runs from 57 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB), with a range of 42 Hz to 20 kHz at ±10 dB. Sensitivity is 92 dB at 1 m, and the coverage pattern is 115° conical for speech and 110° for music.

At 8 Ω the speaker handles 160 W programme and 250 W peak. For 70/100 V distributed systems, the transformer offers 10, 20, 40 and 80 W taps, and a front-mounted, screwdriver-adjustable control selects the tap or 8 Ω operation. Connections are made on a 4-pin 5 mm detachable terminal block with parallel pass-through, taking wire up to 12 AWG.

The enclosure and baffle are fibre-loaded polypropylene, fire retardant and UL rated, and the grille is powder coated perforated aluminium. A die-cast aluminium wall mount fits a 1-gang box and has an adjustable yoke giving ±18° pitch and ±90° yaw, with a safety tether and pole clamp capability. The speaker is 14.92 in. (379 mm) high, 9.42 in. (239 mm) wide and 9.64 in. (245 mm) deep, and weighs 14.12 lb (6.4 kg).
