About the Crestron SAROS IC6VLPT
Crestron offers the Saros low profile models as an alternative to full-sized Saros speakers where ceiling depth is tight. In the IC6VLPT, a 6.5 in. (165 mm) polypropylene woofer with a ring mode decoupled cloth surround and steel basket handles bass and midrange, while a horn-loaded 0.98 in. (25 mm) titanium dome tweeter gives wide dispersion and pattern control above the 2.5 kHz crossover.
Frequency response is 65 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB), with a range of 55 Hz to 20 kHz at ±10 dB, sensitivity of 88 dB at 1 W/1 m and maximum SPL of 108 dB. A recessed rotary switch on the baffle selects 3.75, 7.5, 15, 30 or 60 W at 70V, 7.5, 15, 30 or 60 W at 100V, or 8 Ω. Coverage is 85° conical for speech and 75° for music.
Speaker wire connects to a 4-pin 5 mm detachable terminal block with screw-down flanges and parallel pass-through, taking up to 12 AWG (3.31 mm²). The plenum-rated zinc-plated steel enclosure has a side-entry cable clamp, and four two-step swivelling dogs grip ceilings up to 2.4 in. (61 mm) thick, with a tile bridge included for drop-tile ceilings. The speaker is 10.63 in. (270 mm) across, 4.05 in. (103 mm) deep and weighs 8.3 lb (3.76 kg).

Which transformer taps are available?
At 70V the taps are 3.75, 7.5, 15, 30 and 60 W, and at 100V they are 7.5, 15, 30 and 60 W. There is also an 8 Ω setting. The tap is chosen with a recessed, screwdriver-adjustable rotary switch on the baffle.
How does the SAROS IC6VLPT mount?
It is a flush ceiling mount using four integral two-step swivelling dogs, for ceilings up to 2.4 in. (61 mm) thick, with a minimum mounting depth of 4 in. A tile bridge is included for drop-tile ceilings, and the grille is a paintable, magnetically held, zero-bezel frameless design with a safety tether.
Is it sold singly?
Each SAROS IC6VLPT-W-T-EACH+ is one speaker in a white textured finish, but Crestron states it must be ordered in multiples of 2. So even a single replacement needs an order for an even quantity, such as two.
