About the Crestron AMP-4600

The AMP-4600 uses Class D technology for efficiency, which reduces power consumption and heat, and an internal universal power supply with power factor correction runs from 100 to 240 V AC. Each channel is rated at 600 W into 4 to 8 ohms or at 70/100 V, and adjacent pairs can run in stereo or bridged mode, giving 1200 W per bridged pair into 8 ohms. A power throttle lets each channel be limited in steps from 600 W down to 50 W.

There are four line-level inputs on 3-pin 3.5 mm terminal blocks, accepting balanced or unbalanced signals up to +24 dBu, with rear panel attenuation controls for level matching. Speaker outputs use 2-pin 7.62 mm detachable terminal blocks that take up to 12 AWG wire. Levels can be adjusted and monitored remotely in Crestron's Avia Audio Tool software, or from a touch screen or mobile device once the amplifier is integrated with a Crestron control system.

Each channel has its own fault and speaker protection, including over current and DC offset protection, and output relays cut the speaker line if a fault occurs and while the amplifier starts up or shuts down. Front panel LEDs show faults, 70 V/100 V mode and output levels on 5-segment meters. The fan-cooled metal chassis is 436 mm wide (483 mm with rack ears) and 371 mm deep, and the rack ears and rear support brackets are included.

What is the Crestron AMP-4600?

It is a four-channel power amplifier rated at 600 W per channel, built into a 1 RU rack-mountable chassis. Each channel can be set for 4 or 8 ohm loads or for 70 V or 100 V distributed speaker systems. It is built to work alongside Crestron's Avia digital signal processors.

Can the AMP-4600 drive 70 V or 100 V speaker lines?

Yes. Each channel can be configured individually in software for Hi-Z distributed speaker systems at 70 V or 100 V, with 600 W per channel available. In 70 V or 100 V mode a high pass filter is applied at 80 Hz, and blue front panel LEDs show which channels are set to that mode.

Can channels on the AMP-4600 be bridged?

Yes. Adjacent pairs of channels (1 and 2, 3 and 4) can be configured for stereo or bridged operation, and each channel can also run in mono, independently of the others. A bridged pair provides 1200 W into 8 ohms.

How is the amplifier controlled and monitored?

Levels can be adjusted and monitored remotely in Crestron's Avia Audio Tool software, or from a touch screen or mobile device once the amplifier is integrated with a Crestron control system over its Ethernet port. Rear panel attenuation controls allow input level matching, and a front USB port is provided for setup.

What protection does the amplifier have?

Every channel is protected individually: over-current protection guards against too heavy a speaker load or a shorted speaker line, and DC offset protection is built in. Output relays cut the speaker line if a fault occurs and while the amplifier starts up or shuts down, and front panel LEDs flag under-voltage, over-current, DC offset and over-temperature faults.

Does the AMP-4600 come with a warranty?

Yes. Everything we supply is new, genuine Crestron with Crestron's standard warranty. If the AMP-4600 develops a fault, contact us and we will handle the claim with Crestron. If we installed it, our workmanship is guaranteed for the lifetime of the system.
