Evoko Liso Goes to the Cloud and the MPX Console Locks UC Mode: Biamp's October Update for Cork

Office corridor with two Evoko Liso panels mounted beside dark meeting room doors, one glowing amber and one glowing green, wall lights and a palm in the background

Biamp's October 2026 update did two things for meeting rooms: it made Evoko Liso door panels ready for Biamp Workplace cloud management through new firmware, and it released EasyConnect MPX Management Console 1.3 for the MPX 250, which can now lock the UC state on the hub's ports so they are not switched to BYOM mode by accident. For a Cork office, hotel or college that mixes booked rooms with bring your own meeting tables, both changes are worth understanding before the next round of room updates.

  • EasyConnect MPX Management Console 1.3 was released in October 2026, according to Biamp's release notes.
  • Console 1.3 adds the MPX 250 to the discovery instructions and handles several firmware updates in one session, listing each update done.
  • Biamp says the MPX 250 is set up through the console over a USB connection, not over the network.
  • Existing Evoko Liso panels move to Biamp Workplace by firmware update, and Biamp says no hardware replacement is required.
  • Biamp's Liso migration tool, version 1.0.0, runs on Windows and macOS and builds a USB drive that provisions the panels.

Why a locked UC state matters in a BYOM room

Many rooms now have two ways to hold a call. There is the room's own system, usually a Microsoft Teams Room or Zoom Room, and there is the visitor's laptop running whatever platform their client uses. That second option is called bring your own meeting, or BYOM. Biamp's EasyConnect MPX 250 is built for this: Biamp's support site calls it a BYOM collaboration switching system, a table hub with four USB-C laptop ports, HDMI out to the display and ports for the room's UC and A/V peripherals.

The weak point in any room that can do both is the switch between them. If a port flips to BYOM when the next meeting expects the Teams Room, people arrive to find the room's own system not where they expect it. Biamp's October 2026 announcement says the UC settings in console 1.3 "now let you lock the UC state on the ports, which prevents an accidental switch to BYOM mode." Biamp's release notes describe the same setting as a profile choice between "Hold button" and "Use different modes on different ports".

Everything else in MPX Management Console 1.3

Discovery. The MPX 250 has been added to the console's discovery instructions.

Firmware. More than one firmware update can be done in a single session, and the console shows a list of the updates completed during it. Version 1.2, from March 2026, had already added a progress bar while internal components update.

Errors and wording. Biamp says error management is better when the console fails to read particular values from the hub, and the wording of information messages about setting combinations has been improved.

Factory defaults. Biamp fixed an issue where applying factory default settings did not always use the correct values.

Updating the console. The release notes say the console updates itself when the MPX 250 is connected to the internet, and an update can also be started from inside the console. The console is free for Windows and macOS. To connect, Biamp says you hold any touch button on the table controller for five seconds, wait for the white light, then plug the USB-C cable into the laptop.

The Evoko Liso half: room panels managed from Biamp Workplace

Evoko Liso is the room booking display that sits outside a meeting room, lit green when the room is free, amber shortly before a booking and red while a meeting runs. Liso panels have traditionally been run from Evoko Home, a server application on the customer's own Windows or Ubuntu machine. Biamp now lets them be managed from Biamp Workplace instead.

The move uses the Evoko Liso Workplace Migration Tool. If you already run Evoko Home, the tool reads its locations and panels and recreates them in Workplace, then writes one USB drive for all of them. If you do not, panels are assigned one at a time to rooms that already exist in Workplace, using each panel's serial number from the label on the back. Either way you need a Workplace account with Admin or Owner rights and an empty USB drive of 1 GB or more. Biamp says each panel takes about five minutes to provision once the drive is in and the panel is powered on, and the firmware for Workplace is listed as version 4.0.1.

If a panel ever needs to go back, Biamp offers an "Evoko Liso Restore to Evoko Home" file on its downloads page. Biamp also says a future update will let panels be discovered and assigned from the Biamp Workplace Booking mobile app, which is not available at the time of writing.

A short plan for Cork sites

  1. List what you have. Count the Liso panels and the MPX 250 hubs, room by room, with serial numbers for the panels.
  2. Decide each room's normal state. For every MPX room, settle whether it should open in the room's Teams or Zoom system, and whether visitors should be able to switch to BYOM. That decision drives the UC setting in console 1.3.
  3. Plan firmware time. Console 1.3 can run several firmware updates in one session and lists what was done, so keep that list as a record for each room.
  4. Prepare Workplace before the panels. Set up the organisation, the admin login and, if you have no Evoko Home server, every room location first.
  5. Book a quiet morning. Allow for walking the USB drive to each panel and for a few minutes of downtime per room.

In Cork the mix varies: offices around the city centre and the docklands, hotel conference suites, and university and college buildings each lean differently between booked rooms and visitor led meetings. The same two questions apply in all of them: how should a room behave when someone walks in, and who looks after the panels on the door.

Questions we are often asked

Can the MPX 250 stop a Teams Room switching to BYOM by mistake?

Yes. Biamp says MPX Management Console 1.3 lets you lock the UC state on the ports, which prevents an accidental switch to BYOM mode.

Can I set up the MPX 250 over the network?

No. Biamp says the MPX 250 is configured with the EasyConnect Management Console over a USB connection.

Do I have to update the MPX Management Console by hand?

Not usually. Biamp says it updates automatically when the MPX 250 is connected to the internet, and you can also start an update yourself.

Will my Evoko Liso panels work with Biamp Workplace?

Yes. Biamp says existing Evoko Liso panels can be migrated to Biamp Workplace with a guided firmware update and no new hardware.

What do I need to move an Evoko Liso panel to Workplace?

A Workplace account with Admin or Owner rights, an empty USB drive of at least 1 GB and a Windows or macOS computer running Biamp's migration tool.
