Home cinema installation in Co. Kildare, where so many of the homes we work on are new builds and extensions, the best time of all to plan a cinema.
The cheapest cinema cabling is the cabling that goes in before the plasterboard. If you are building, a few hours of planning at first fix saves walls being opened later.
Cabling while the walls are open
In one cinema room we built, every cable run went in while the floor, walls and ceiling were still open: speaker cables to each position, network cable for the video, power for the projector at the back and feeds for the lighting in the steps. The fabric and the carpet then closed everything in.
See that room from bare walls to finished cinema. Building your own home? Our guide to what to wire at first fix covers the rest of the house as well.
Home cinemas across Kildare
Kildare homes are often large new builds and country houses, perfect for designing lighting, heating, audio and networks in from the start. Around Naas, and among the large detached homes near Kill and the N7, whole home control and outdoor Wi-Fi are common requests. Our Dublin engineers travel into Kildare every day, from the first survey to support.
What to plan at first fix
- Speaker positions and cable runs, including the ceiling for Dolby Atmos
- Network cable for the video, which is how the cinema room shown here sends its picture
- Power and data at the back wall for a projector
- Space and ventilation for the equipment rack
- Lighting circuits for the steps and walls, ready for lighting control
Questions we are often asked
When should we plan a cinema in a new build?
Before first fix, ideally while the drawings are being finalised. That is when cable runs, back boxes and the room layout can be settled without extra building work.
Can we add the equipment later?
Yes. If the cables and back boxes are in place, the screen, speakers and electronics can go in whenever you are ready, which helps spread the cost.
Do you cover all of Co. Kildare?
Yes, including Straffan, Maynooth, Leixlip, Naas, Celbridge and the rest of the county.
