Cisco Google Meet support means a Cisco room device can now run Google Meet itself, fully featured, according to an announcement Cisco made at WebexOne 2026 on 7 October 2026. The same release previewed RoomOS 27, which Cisco gives as available in November, and Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro, a loudspeaker that connects to the network over one Ethernet cable.

- With Meet added, Cisco hardware covers Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet, Cisco says.
- RoomOS 27, the software that runs Cisco Collaboration Devices, is listed by Cisco as available in November.
- Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro is described by Cisco as an IP connected ceiling speaker that replaces multi vendor audio setups with a single Ethernet cable.
- Cisco had not named the device models that get Meet, nor a ship date for the speaker, at the time of writing.
- The announcement is Cisco's release "Cisco Unveils New Agentic Collaboration Experiences", dated Austin, Texas, 7 October 2026.
What Cisco Google Meet support changes for Cork organisations
For years the choice of room hardware has tended to follow the choice of meeting service. A business on Google Workspace bought Meet hardware, a business on Teams bought Teams Rooms, and anyone with Cisco equipment usually ran Webex or Teams on it. Cisco's announcement loosens that link. The Cisco Newsroom release says its devices can now run Google Meet natively with its full feature set, joining Webex, Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and gives the reason in one line: "This gives customers complete freedom to choose their preferred meeting and AI environments."
That matters most where one building hosts people who live in different ecosystems. A site in Little Island or Ringaskiddy owned by an overseas group may have head office standards for one platform while local teams and suppliers use another. On paper, a single Cisco estate could now serve all of them. The practical catch is that Cisco has not yet said which models qualify, so nobody should assume that a particular bar or board on the wall today will take Meet.
The audio half of the story
The speaker may turn out to be the bigger change for larger rooms. Cisco has sold cameras, ceiling microphones and room devices for some time; Ceiling Speaker Pro fills the gap at the playback end. The release says it uses AI to adapt audio across the space so that quieter speakers are still heard, connects directly from the network to central management, and integrates with Cisco cameras, microphones and room devices.
In his post on the Webex blog, Snorre Kjesbu says Cisco video devices, cameras, ceiling microphones and now speakers can work together, using intelligence at the edge. He also mentions adaptive voice lift, aimed at people sitting across a long conference table, and says built in processing and automatic configuration reduce the complexity of deploying room audio.
Until a data sheet appears, several things an installer needs are unknown: physical size and cut out, power requirements, how much floor area one speaker covers, how many can share a room and the ship date. We would treat it as one to watch rather than one to specify.
RoomOS 27 in brief
RoomOS 27 is the next release of Cisco's device operating system. Cisco says its AI Assistant can engage in 32 languages and that Cisco Cloud Control gains Workspace Advisor, Smart Room Assurance and Divisible Rooms. Cisco states only the month, November, so we have not given a date. Install it on a test room before the rest of an estate.
Room by room: where to start in Cork
| Type of space | First thing to check |
|---|---|
| Huddle rooms on a Google Workspace floor | Whether the existing Cisco device appears on Cisco's Meet list once published, so a laptop is no longer needed to join. |
| Boardrooms on a pharma or tech campus | Ceiling height, microphone positions and whether the network can carry audio over IP before considering Ceiling Speaker Pro. |
| Rooms shared by several companies | Which platform each room should start in, and who in IT changes it. |
| Divisible training rooms | What the Divisible Rooms tools in Cisco Cloud Control actually do in your space, once Cisco documents them. |
| Lecture and seminar rooms | Whether the institution's licensing and device management allow a third party Meet room at all. |
Our page on huddle rooms covers the small spaces, and education AV covers teaching rooms.
Buildings and campuses around Cork
Cork's meeting rooms are spread across very different buildings. Newer blocks in the Docklands and along the quays often have deeper ceiling voids and recent network cabling, which makes a network connected ceiling speaker easier to plan. Older offices on the South Mall and around the city centre often have lower or decorated ceilings, where every ceiling device needs a conversation with the landlord first. Business parks in Mahon, Ballincollig and Carrigaline usually mean single storey or low rise offices with suspended grid ceilings, which are the easiest to work in. Large campuses, whether pharmaceutical, tech or educational such as UCC and MTU, add their own IT security reviews before any new device touches the network.
Whichever building you are in, the order of work is the same: confirm the platform, confirm the hardware is supported, then plan cabling and network. Our process page explains how we take a room from survey to handover, and the commercial quote builder gives a starting budget.
1Install designs, supplies and installs meeting rooms, Teams Rooms and video conferencing systems, and we would weigh Cisco's new options against other makers for each space once the detail is published. Questions we are often asked
Can Cisco devices join Google Meet calls without a laptop now?
Yes, Cisco says its devices now run fully featured Google Meet natively, but it has not yet listed the qualifying models, so check yours against that list when Cisco publishes it.
Is Google Meet replacing Webex on Cisco hardware?
No. Cisco presents Meet as a fourth option alongside Webex, Microsoft Teams and Zoom, not a replacement for any of them.
What does Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro connect with?
One Ethernet cable, according to Cisco, and it works with Cisco cameras, ceiling microphones and room devices; power and coverage figures have not been published at the time of writing.
Is RoomOS 27 out yet?
Cisco gives November as the month it is available and has not given a day, so check Cisco's release notes before planning an update.
Should we wait before buying Cisco room hardware for Google Meet?
Yes, wait for Cisco's supported model list and the RoomOS 27 release notes, then pilot one room before committing an estate.
