JCL, the company behind FlexiDim lighting control, has closed. 1Install installed a great many FlexiDim systems over the years, so we know them inside out, and today we replace them with Crestron, Control4 or Rako without rewiring your house.
With JCL gone, there is no manufacturer support, software updates or new parts for FlexiDim, so when a module or keypad fails it can be hard to put right. The good news is how these systems were wired: FlexiDim is usually star wired, with every lighting circuit running back to the dimmer modules in one central location. That means we can replace the central equipment and keypads with a current Crestron, Control4 or Rako system, keep your existing cables, and leave your walls and ceilings untouched.
1Install replace JCL FlexiDim systems with Crestron, Control4 and Rako across Dublin, Cork and the rest of Ireland, and we look after it once you have moved in. Everything is planned as part of your wider lighting control design.

How 1Install replaces JCL FlexiDim
- Consultation. We start with how you live: which rooms matter most, what moods you want, and what you want to happen when you arrive home or go to bed. See our consultation.
- Survey and lighting design. We survey the property and produce the lighting control design, with circuit schedules, keypad locations, full drawings and cable schedules for your electrician. See survey and design.
- Keypads designed by you. In your interactive proposal you, your interior designer or lighting designer choose keypad styles, finishes, button names, backlight colours and locations, with live costs as you go.
- Installation. Our own engineers install and test the new Crestron, Control4 or Rako equipment and keypads, working alongside your electrician and visiting site through the build. See installation.
- Programming. We survey your FlexiDim modules, keypads and circuits, record every circuit and scene, then install and program the new Crestron, Control4 or Rako system in house, recreating the scenes you are used to.
- Handover and aftercare. We walk you through every scene and keypad, and because you helped design it, the house already makes sense. 1Install Care keeps it running for years after.
What we program into your new system
- Lighting scenes for every room, such as Welcome, Dinner, Relax, Cinema and Night
- Whole house scenes, such as All Off when you leave and Good Night from the bedside
- Gentle fade times and correct dimming curves for each type of LED fitting
- Timeclock events that follow sunrise and sunset, including outdoor and garden lighting
- Motion and presence sensors for hallways, stairs, cloakrooms and plant rooms
- Pathway lighting at night at a low, comfortable level
- Holiday mode that makes the house look lived in while you are away
- App and voice control, and links to blinds, music, heating and security
Part of the whole home
Lighting is at its best when it works with everything else. We connect your new lighting system to automated blinds and curtains, multi room audio, home cinema and your home automation system, so one button can set the whole room. Every system runs on a properly designed home network.
