A Neat Board installation looks simple once it is finished: one screen on a stand at the end of the table, and a touch controller within reach. This one was in a boardroom in Dublin city centre, set up over two days in February 2023, and the photos below follow it from the box to the finished room.
What we installed
We installed and set up a Neat Board on a floor stand with wheels and a shelf, standing at the far end of a long dark timber table. A Neat Pad touch controller sits on the table for the people in the room. The board runs Zoom Rooms, and its home screen offers a test meeting, joining a meeting and a whiteboard. Neat's page on Neat devices for Zoom Rooms explains how the two work together.
Day one: unpacking and a first power up
The board came out of its box and onto its stand in front of the windows, and the foam packaging ended up on the boardroom table. At the first power up the screen asked for the network connection to be checked, a clear sign of what needed sorting before anything else.
Day two: updates and the Zoom Rooms home screen
On the second day the Neat Pad was downloading its own update, with a warning on its screen not to unplug it. The board's update screen showed automatic updates switched on and an update downloading. The home screen in the finished room photos is the Zoom Rooms one, with its Sign in button, ready for the room to be signed in.
Cabling you cannot see
From the back of the board, the cabling runs down one leg of the stand inside a black cable sleeve and into a box set in the floor, so nothing trails across the carpet. On a stand that can be wheeled about, that small detail does a lot to keep the room looking tidy.
Planning a Neat Board installation
Decide where the board will stand, and where the floor box needs to be, before the equipment arrives, because the cable route is the hardest thing to change later. Neat devices work with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, so the platform your team already uses is usually the one the board runs. Our guide to Neat devices that are certified for Teams covers the latest boards and pads.
The same thinking applies to the rest of our video conferencing and conference room work in Dublin and Cork.
