Eighty meeting spaces in the offices of a pharmaceutical company, from two person huddle rooms to boardrooms that divide, designed, cabled, installed and commissioned by 1Install.
What the client asked for
Every room had to work the same way, so staff could walk into any of them and start a call or share a screen without help. The larger rooms divide, so sound and picture needed to switch by themselves as the layout changes, and the cabling had to leave room for the technology to change later.
How we approached it
We took the whole job, from the first design meetings to training the people who use the rooms. It ran in four stages:
- Consultation and system design, two months.
- Structured cabling and building the equipment racks, three months.
- Fitting the hardware and programming, two months.
- Testing, commissioning and training, one month.
What went in
- Crestron control with a touch panel in each room and one touch to start a meeting.
- Biamp and QSC audio processing with ceiling and table microphones.
- Logitech conferencing cameras, with Crestron NVX carrying video over the network.
- Crestron room booking panels linked to Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- BrightSign players for company messages on screens around the building.
How it turned out
Staff book a room, walk in and meet, and the IT and facilities teams have one consistent system to support across all 80 spaces. Because the video travels over the network, rooms can be added or changed without starting again.
