A new Crestron Home system for a house with a vaulted oak framed room, where lighting, music and television had to work without taking anything away from the timber and glass.
What the owners asked for
The main room is all oak beams and glazing under a high vaulted ceiling. The owners wanted lighting they could change to suit the occasion, music in the rooms they use most and a television that looked as if it belonged there.
What went in
- Control: Crestron Home, configured one room at a time, including the kitchen, dining room, family room and games room.
- Lighting: a Crestron Green Light panel gives the oak frame, the wall lights and the downlights separate scenes.
- Touch screens: Crestron screens on the wall, with the same control on phones and tablets.
- Music: ceiling speakers, positioned with a laser level so they sit in a true line.
- Television: a screen in the vaulted room, with its cables concealed.
How it turned out
A single press brings up the light and the music the owners want. In the evening the oak is shown off by its own lighting, and nobody in the house needs instructions to use any of it.
