A Control4 system that had become a weekly source of faults, taken out of a linen cupboard and rebuilt as a labelled, ventilated rack on a new network.
What we found
The equipment sat at the bottom of a linen cupboard, under shelves of towels. The cables were knotted together, none had a label, and something failed every week. The original installer had moved on, and the family had stopped trusting the system.
What we did
- Surveyed the Control4 system, the cabling and the network as they stood.
- Traced each cable, fitted new ends and labelled it.
- Built a new rack with cable management, proper power and ventilation.
- Put in a new network first, then tested Control4 one room at a time.
How it turned out
The system does what it is meant to again, and the rack makes sense to any engineer who opens it. There is more on this kind of work on our rescue projects page.
