A living room rebuilt around two walls: one cut with slots of LED light, the other holding the fire and the television, with Control4 running the lot.
What the client asked for
A room that would make visitors stop at the door. Before committing, the client wanted to see it, so we drew the room in 3D and agreed the design on screen first.
How we approached it
The old room was stripped to the studs. The new walls and ceiling were then built to suit the lighting and the media wall, not the other way round.
What went in
- 3D visuals, signed off by the client before any work started.
- LED slots in the wall and ceiling, marked out by laser so each one is straight and the spacing is even.
- A media wall with a fire and a television built in and every cable hidden.
- Control4 for the lights, the television and music, with ready made scenes for an ordinary evening and for film nights.
How it turned out
The finished room matches the visual closely. It is striking at night and restful by day, and one button is all it takes to run it.
