A handbag boutique where every shelf, the tiled display wall and the window are lit from one Crestron panel, with background music, Wi-Fi and CCTV fitted at the same time.
What the client asked for
The shop was laid out more like a gallery than a store, with walnut shelves, a wall of glazed tiles and a wide window to the street. Our part was to light all of it well, keep the equipment hidden and give the staff something they could run every day without effort.
What went in
- Lighting control: the LED strips in the shelves and the tiled wall, the track spotlights overhead and the window lighting are all wired back to a Crestron Green Light panel. Staff set the whole shop with a single press, the lights can follow opening hours, and the window can stay lit after the doors close.
- Music: small speakers hang from the open ceiling next to the lighting track and fill the floor evenly at a comfortable level.
- Network and Wi-Fi: a secure network keeps the tills, card payments and staff devices online.
- CCTV: high definition cameras watch the shop floor and the door, and can be viewed securely from elsewhere.
How it turned out
The lighting does the selling: it picks out the colour and grain of each bag and makes the window stand out to passers by after dark. The staff do not have to think about any of it.
