What the owners asked for
A barn like this gives an installer very little to work with: the timbers are on show, the walls are brick and most of the rest is window. The owners wanted good sound and lighting all the same, and nothing that would interfere with the building.
What went in
- Speakers concealed in the walls of the living areas and finished over so they cannot be seen.
- A television and soundbar recessed into the brick wall.
- Lighting as a feature, including the clusters of pendants in the double height living room and above the kitchen.
- Television and music in the gym and on the mezzanine.
How it turned out
The barn looks the way its architect drew it. The sound is good in every part of the house, and the lighting brings out the beams.
