A Zoom Rooms installation turns a meeting room into a space where anyone can start or join a call from one touch controller. This one, in a Dublin city centre meeting room in February 2023, has two wall displays side by side and a video bar fixed below them. We installed and set up the screens and the bar, and the two photos below were taken less than two minutes apart as the room came to life.
Two displays, one room
Both screens are fixed to a wall covered in grey acoustic fabric. In one photo each display shows a large number, 1 and 2, which makes it easy to tell the screens apart while they are being set up. In the other, both show the Zoom logo and the left one carries the message "Tap Controller to Start", which tells you the room is ready and waiting for someone to pick up the touch controller.
What a Zoom Room needs
A Zoom Room is more than a screen. It needs a display or two, a camera, microphones and speakers, a computer or appliance running Zoom Rooms, and a controller that people can use without training. A video bar, like the one under these screens, brings the camera, microphones and speakers together in a single unit, and its position under the screens keeps the camera close to where people are looking.
Why two displays?
A common arrangement is to show the people on one display and shared content on the other, so a presentation never pushes the faces out of view. It also gives a larger room a bigger picture to look at, without a single oversized screen.
Planning a Zoom Rooms installation
Decide how many displays the room needs, where the bar will sit in relation to them and how the room will be started and controlled. Zoom explains the platform on its Zoom Rooms page, and we help you choose hardware to suit the size of the room.
The same approach applies across our video conferencing, meeting room AV and meeting room work in Dublin and Cork, and to flat panel displays of any size.
