Meeting Room Wall Display in Dublin and Cork: A Large Screen and a Recessed Soundbar

Meeting room wall display with a Sonos soundbar in a recess below it, above a long white table and black chairs in a Dublin office

A meeting room wall display needs more than a bracket and a power socket. The screen has to be the right size and height, the sound should seem to come from the picture, and the cables have to stay out of sight. This meeting room in Dublin city centre, photographed in February 2023, shows how that can look: one large display on a white wall, with a Sonos soundbar set into a recess directly below it.

What we installed

We installed and set up the display and the soundbar in this room. The screen hangs flat to the wall above a long white table with black mesh chairs, and no cables show anywhere on the wall. The soundbar sits in a tidy rectangular recess below the screen, and a small camera is perched on top of it. A flip chart stands to one side for the moments when a marker is quicker than a slide, and slim linear lights hang from the ceiling.

Why a recessed soundbar suits a meeting room

A soundbar directly under the screen puts the voices in the same place as the faces and the slides, which is easier to follow than speakers off to one side. Setting it into the wall keeps the room clean and stops the bar from being knocked or moved. A recess does need planning before the wall is finished, because the cables must reach it and the bar must be easy to take out if it ever needs attention.

Planning a meeting room wall display

Start with the people sitting furthest from the screen, because the display has to work for them. Its size, its height and the distance to the back of the room all matter. After that, decide how the sound will be handled, where the cables will run so that none are seen, and whether the room needs a camera for video calls. Each of these is far easier to settle before the walls are closed up.

The same thinking applies to any meeting room, from a small huddle space to a full boardroom, and to flat panel displays of every size. If the room is also used for calls, our audio conferencing page explains the options for microphones and speakers. The maker's own range is on the Sonos soundbars page.
